Please tell me about your new patient co-ordinator.

Based at a dedicated desk opposite reception, our new patient co-ordinator has the skills, training and knowledge to resolve any query you might have about any aspect of your care with St James’ Dental.

Think of the patient co-ordinator as your ‘ambassador’ for anything concerning your dental care at St James’ Dental – someone who is available, by email, on the phone or in person, to help you in any way they can. Our patient co-ordinator is responsible to you, our patient, for anything you may want to discuss: treatment choices, cost or payments, appointments, any difficulties you are experiencing or information you might need about care plans, practice procedures or anything else relating to your care!

Your relationship with our patient co-ordinator begins with your first visit. When you arrive as a new patient, you’ll be referred to your patient co-ordinator as soon as you book in with reception. What should you expect? First, you’ll get a warm welcome, and the opportunity to discuss your up and coming appointment at St James’ Dental. The patient co-ordinator will also give you any help you need to complete the registration paper work.

Next, she’ll explain the layout of the building: reception, toilets, waiting rooms, hygienist surgeries and other information to help you feel ‘at home’. She’ll ask you to complete a medical history sheet and a short smile and gum questionnaire before taking you through to the practice where you’ll be introduced to your practice team (dentist and dental nurse). After your appointment, your dentist will normally take you back to the patient co-ordinator who will answer any further queries.

Once you are a St James’ regular, the patient co-ordinator will become a normal part of your continuing dental care. So, please don’t hesitate to speak to her. If, for any reason, Sarah is not available when you visit the practice, simply book an appointment through reception. Alternatively, please call her on 01452 727665 or send an e-mail.
