Skin tags are small benign lesions that form mainly in areas where the skin creases, such as the neck and armpits. They can also occur on the face, usually on the eyelids and can range in size from being as small as a grain of rice to being as big as a snooker ball!! There’s no need to feel that there’s anything strange going on, they are very common especially as we get older and skin loses its elasticity. The frustrating thing is that we don’t know exactly what causes them or why some people are more prone than others. They often get sore if they form in areas where collars and seams on clothing rub them. After numbing the area the small tags can be easily removed with the minimum of scarring.
